The holidays bring not only credit card charges and full parking lots, but more enjoyable experiences like parties at your house and visits from family members and friends.
With this in mind, your home elevator will be of great interest to many of these guests, so we thought we would offer a bit of a refresher course here to make sure your holiday elevations go according to plan.
Most home lifts are constructed at 750 pounds weight capacity. This does not mean, especially when it comes to our amazing Stella-Vator, that when the contents hit 751 pounds, everything goes haywire. But, what can happen with repetitive, excess poundage is the stressing of not only the machine, but the railings supporting it as well. Eventually the ride can get a little bumpy, and you will need a service call. Overload issues are not covered in product warranties.
For a party with all its distractions, we recommend that you shut off your elevator. Most people are used to commercial machines, and assume that yours can hold as many people as the one they just rode at the department store! A packed lift will not only test the load tolerance, but the cab walls may get scratched or the gate may be knocked askew.
A slightly tipsy guest just might yank your automatic gate out of place thinking it is a manual one, and there it goes. Children are fascinated by anything remotely interesting, so your elevator would be a prime target for them. Do you really want someone calling their friend in Australia from the phone inside the cab?
Put your elevator to good holiday use. Your favorite aunt and uncle will be pleased with the luxury of traveling in comfort with their luggage up to their room. You can come down with that box full of unassembled bicycle parts without the worry of tripping down the stairs. Most importantly, think of the ease Santa will have in getting around your residence using your home elevator!
Happy Holidays from all of us at T.L. Shield & Associates!
