A New Way to LULA

Modular Elevator Manufacturing (MEM), a division of T.L. Shield and Associates, is an industry-leading creator of prefabricated commercial hydraulic and machine-room-less elevators. MEM has recently introduced the Modular Limited Use Limited Application elevator, or “Modular LULA” and Modular Hoistway.

The Modular LULA is designed as a self-contained, freestanding machine that can be delivered to a job site and installed in less than a day! It features an integral machine room and is compliant with International Building Code (IBC) 2010 as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators A17.1-2004 standards.

This Modular LULA unit is installed in conjunction with the MEM Modular Hoistway. Available in three sizes, the Modular Hoistway is transported directly to the specified location and arrives complete with engineered structural drawings. Along with LULA applications, this flexible prefab hoistway can also be used for hydraulic or machine-room-less elevator installations.

These modular conveyance products are perfect for projects that need accessibility constructed quickly and economically. They also give the client the ability to eliminate redundancy in project management. Both customizable offerings from MEM can be installed as a standalone unit or connected to the building as a single or multi-piece structure. They are available in a wide range of designs, and can be built with either non-rated or one-hour rated walls.

These affordable, low-maintenance units can be made operational within two days of delivery and are capable of servicing two-to-seven-story facilities.
